Every year Gypsies from across Europe gather in the Camargue town of Saintes-Maries de-la-Mer, in the South of France, to venerate Sainte Sara la Noire, the patron saint of the gypsies, alongside Saintes Marie Salomè and Marie Jacobè.

The coastal town comes alive with rhythm and devotion as this deeply rooted pilgrimage, steeped in history and passed down through generations, unfolds across its streets and shorelines. The saints are carried to the sea in a powerful procession led by the iconic white Camargue horses, followed by hundreds of worshippers.

This series captures the spirit of a community honouring its past, preserving its traditions, and reaffirming its identity through ritual and gathering.
